David Lepant, a Senior Partner at Lepant Law Office, PC, LLO, graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Business Administration. He was associated for eighteen years with Miller and Paine Department Stores in a variety of positions including store management and a member of the corporate executive management team. After Miller and Paine sold its stores to Dillards, Dave pursued his legal career, obtaining a Juris Doctor with Distinction degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1993. In law school, Dave was Chairman of the Allen Moot Court Board and a member of the Order of the Barristers. Dave began his practice in 1993 when he succeeded to the practice of Merrell Andersen. He recently assumed the practice of the Schwab & Bauer law firm in Fairbury, when Ron Schwab retired. Dave’s general practice emphasizes Estate Planning & Probate, Adoption, Guardianship, Real Estate, and Business Formation. Dave has served as Chairman of the Gage County Mental Health Board since 1999 and was recently appointed Chairman of the Jefferson County Mental Health Board. A highlight of his career is the Parde case found at, Parde v. Parde, 258 Neb. 101 (1999), wherein he successfully argued that disability benefits paid through the Railroad Retirement fund should be bifurcated as to marital and non-marital property. Dave has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Beatrice since 1993, serving several terms on the Board of Directors and one term as President. He has also coordinated several fundraising events including the MUDECAS Basketball Tournament and Pancake Feeds. Dave and his wife, Ginny have five children and thirteen grandchildren.
